When I first met Kate and Michael I felt that there was something familiar. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had met Michael before so I asked him if we went to the same school together. No he said. Hmmmmm, perhaps he frequented Parramatta Westfield’s in the 80’s? He said yes, I said to him “that must be it, I used to work at Parramatta McDonalds while I was studding at Business College” that’s when he told me that he worked there too, at the same time! You can fill in your own version of events from here but needless to say that we talked more about McDonald’s and the 80’s than we did about the Wedding! LOL.
Last Friday Kate and Michael tied the knot after many years of togetherness, actually, Michael was Kate’s Manager at McDonald’s! LOL!!! I had very limited time to capture the event so I asked my good friend Andrew to come along and shoot with me. I’m so glad I did as we were rushing around all afternoon trying to fit everything into the tight schedule. Andrew did the photos of the boys at the Park Hyatt Sydney while I did the getting ready shots of the girls at the 4 Points Sheraton in Darling Harbour. The ceremony and the reception were both held at L’ Aqua in Cockle Bay so we caught a water taxi around to Circular Quay for a few quick photos before heading back to L’ Aqua for the recpetion.
During the reception I managed to catch up with a few people I worked with back in the 80’s, the memories of ‘the summer of Kokomo‘ came flooding back to me thick and fast and it was like I had been transported into some alternative time zone. To say I had a blast at the reception was an understatement, watching the love that Kate and Michael have for each other combined with the love that their families and friends have for them was wonderful to witness. I had more than one warm and fuzzy moment during the day, and had to pinch myself at seeing someone I knew many moons ago marry the woman of his dreams.
Congratulations Kate and Michael, I can’t wait to catch up with you again soon!

Andrew got these fabulous shots of the boys getting ready at the Park Hyatt Sydney, kind of bummed I didn’t get to go inside the hotel myself, but hey, there’s always next time

Michael, this one’s for you. Hope it brings back some fond memories
