I love girls. It’s no secret. I’m surrounded by boys at home, 3 men in my life, 2 male dogs and one male rabbit. Until yesterday it was just Cassandra and I against all that testosterone
(I don’t know if dogs and bunnies have that but for the sake of my story let’s just assume that they do) Anyway, yesterday Cassandra and I went out to get her a work experience job. While we where there we thought we might look for some school formal clothes, we found the perfect dress, shoes and accessories within the hour and were so pleased with our efforts that we decided to take a rest at a new coffee shop. From that coffee shop I spotted the perfect tressel table for my studio so we went to buy it. That is when we walked past the pet shop and I spotted her. She with her big black eyes and black floppy ears, she had me a woof and I knew she had to be mine
I have loved, no make that LOVED Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for over 10 years and ever since I fist held one I have said that one day I would have one of my own. Ever since I was a baby I’ve had 2 big dogs at any given time. I’ve had Labradors, Blue Cattle Dogs, German Shepherds and Border Collies but never a little dog. Now, I’m a believer in if you see something you want get it when you see it because when you go looking for it you’ll never find it. So, with this as my personal motto I decided to hand over more money than I care to admit to to the sales lady and take home the latest member of our family
Just by coincidence yesterday I had looked at some animal shelter websites and browsed for a King Charles but didn’t see any – 2 of the 3 dog’s I’ve owned as an adult have either come from a rescue shelter or was a stray so I do prefer to save a life when I can. In this case it’s just very rare to find a little Cavalier who has been given up, so seeing this adorable little face in the window amongst a sea of brown and white puppies was fate at it’s best! How could I possibly resists this face???

She was such a good girl on her first night, she didn’t cry when we put her in the laundry overnight and when I woke she had been using her puppy training mats and appears to be toilet trained already! And even though Steven said I couldn’t bring a puppy home with me, he told me this morning that he is very glad that I did
I’m just glad that Cassandra wanted to find a work experience job and that I decided to go along for moral support or this little girl may have been snapped up by the other family who were eyeing her off! Now that would have been a tragedy!
The only thing we need to sort out is her name. Yesterday I was going to call her Ruby because three years ago when I was hoping to have another baby I decided if it was a girl I’d call her Ruby, but that never happened so I thought I’d call our new puppy Ruby. But then last night while I was looking into that sweet innocent face I thought that perhaps she was a Daisy instead, happy, delightful and sweet. Our family is pretty much split down the middle on this so let me know what you think.
Is she a Ruby or is she a Daisy?
To be continued…………….
